I'm working at IT Management and Web Engineering since Feb 2002. My main focus in research is based on Web Engineering, Software Engineering and Web based Technologies, particularly Xml and Web Services. Targeting these technologies in combination with applied engineering tasks, a central point of my work lies in establising and resarching Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).
Special fields of research interest include:
Web Engineering and Application Composition
This approach defines a disciplined procedure of composing Web-applications with components. It is a synthesis of a dedicated component-technology, reuse management, a dedicated Web-Application framework, and a component-oriented process model.
Early beginnings started in 1997 with a dedicated Markup Language (WCML), an XML vocabulary for the WebComposition approach that allows definition of (Web-) components, properties, and relationships between these components. A major part of the WebComposition Approach is the so-called EvolutionBus. The evolutionsbus framework is part of the WebComposition approach. We are currently investigating the use of the Evolutionbus Infrastructure Server to develop highly-distributed Web-Applications, like federated Portals and Marketplaces, as well as service delivery based on different business scenarios.
Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP)
AOP is an emerging programming paradigm that attracts more and more attention. Also in Web related projects AOP can play an important role. As AOP enforces separation of concerns as well as the webcomposition approach this technology marks also an interesting resarch field for my work within WSLS.
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Since the paradigm of Service Oriented Archtiectures (SOA) is not really new, they revived in the last years to one of the most discussed topics at the moment. While SOA often is missunderstood as an architecture that serves as platform for web services, the other direction is true. Web services represent an ideal interface standard that helps defining platforms and system that rely on the Service oriented architecture paradigm.
The WebComposition Service Linking System (WSLS)
WSLS bases on ideas and procedures of the WebComposition Approach and extends it to a framework that facilitates creation of complex web applications and systems.
Major aspects considered in WSLS are federating, composing and configuring web services concerning e.g. configuration, data integration or security. These concerns are cut across web applications, especially in heterogenous environments. Solutions towards Service-Oriented Architectures inevitable must deal with these topics. This page is created using the WSLS Framework. Read more about WSLS.
